Inclusive Education Update – Term 1 2024

What a busy start to the school year! It is the end of Term 1 and students have settled in and are feeling comfortable with the transition to their new year level. The Inclusive Education Team continues to work with families and students from Prep through to Year 12 to support students to access the curriculum at their point-of-need. The team also provides ongoing support to teachers to help them to differentiate learning and to build capacity in their students.

Please remember that as a parent / carer you can contact our team if you require advice or if you want to speak about challenges your child may be having. You may contact us directly or ask for support through your child’s Year Level Coordinator or from Natalie Kisilevich, our Wellbeing Leader.

Supporting Neurodiversity

“I CAN CELEBRATES DIVERSE THINKING AND PROVIDES THE SKILLS FOR AUTISTIC AND NEURODIVERSE STUDENTS TO HAVE A VOICE”

This week we have been celebrating NEURODIVERSITY WEEK and thinking about the ways in which we can better understand our students’ needs. We are pleased to promote the ICAN Network and the services that they offer children and young people. The programs offered through an online service during the school term and in the holidays, are delivered by Autistic mentors and these trainers have the skills to help your child unlock their superpower!

Term 2 Program
There are a wide range of groups that include:
– support for gender diverse, neurodiverse young people
– support in the development of executive functioning and organisational skills
– support young people to embrace their autism

ICan Network is an NDIS Service Provider – SEE ICAN WEBSITE HERE

The team looks forward to a productive Term 2.
