Spring Dinner is held annually prior to the September term break. One of the most popular events on our calendar (and selling out every year!), we are sure everyone agrees the night is a joyous celebration of our wonderful Preshil spirit.

The evening provides a showcase for all the elements that make Preshil such an exciting place to be. Rising out of the Electives Program – which gives students so many opportunities for real life learning in cross-age groupings – the evening draws its front-of-house, cooks, kitchen hands and entertainers from Years 7 to 10 into teams where they collaborate, create and support one another to bring this phenomenal evening together. Together, as a group, they meticulously plan prepare for the evening to ensure the service of all courses is seamless. We are all very proud of their achievements.

Set around a Silent Auction, the dinner is a very successful fundraising event and it is heartening to know that so many members of our community are keen to support the School so generously.

With 120 guests plus a dedicated team of cooks, wait staff and performers who bring together a wonderful evening of brilliant food, attentive service and great entertainment, our beautiful library is turned into a dining room by Nerel Ezra and her team of parents and staff, whilst the amazing John Collins designs and tests our exciting menu with the Kitchen Garden students.

In a celebration of wonderful and often overlooked ‘bush tucker’, the 2019 Spring Dinner was a celebration of our own land, acquainting us with the overlooked and the underrated in a menu of spectacular and delectable dishes. The exciting and adventurous ingredients being showcased included lemon myrtle, kangaroo, anise myrtle, macadamia, barramundi, saltbush, wallaby, stinging nettles, finger lime, eel and wattleseed.

Money raised from the 2019 Spring Dinner will be put toward our exciting new development at Blackhall Kalimna, the Arts House. This ever-changing and adaptive space will give expression to our enduring philosophy of collaboration, performance and community.

We thank our wonderful school community for making the 2019 Spring Dinner an evening to remember!

Our fourth Spring Dinner – a Middle Eastern feast which loosely referenced the food journey along the ancient Silk Road exceeded all expectations. Once again, the evening was sold out and we must thank the work, goodwill, talent and generosity of so many members of our community.

Money raised from the 2018 dinner was put toward the final fit-out and equipment for the newly restored upstairs area of our Kalimna building which has become the home for our IB Diploma Programme students from the start of 2019.

The 2017 Spring Dinner and Silent Auction raised approximately $16,000 after expenses, with the money earmarked to upgrade the Science Laboratories at Blackhall Kalimna and refurbish the Play Area as part of the restoration of the Arlington 5s building.

As always, the success of the evening is largely dependent on support from Preshil families of their time and donations. We thank all those who attended, donated, assisted and contributed in any other way for this dinner. As a community we all come together for the benefit of this amazing school.
