Vocational Major (VM) Update – Term 1 2024

At Preshil we are delighted to introduce the VCE Vocational Major educational pathway for students entering year 11 and 12. The Vocational Major is a 2-year applied learning program designed to support the students to plan for their future beyond school. It provides a transition into further education and training (such as university and TAFE), apprenticeships, traineeships, and employment. The students are encouraged to explore and pursue their strengths, interests, and passions while they develop knowledge and understanding of future workplaces and career directions. As part of the course, we are inviting past Alumni to come and share their unique and inspiring experiences and insights.

As a former graduating student returning to Preshil, it is a privilege to implement and lead this exciting new initiative. With more than 30 years’ experience in creative arts and education, I bring a diverse educational experience and passion to support our students to succeed. I am delighted to be working closely with Bronte Howell (Professional Careers Practitioner) to enable the students to navigate and access further career and study options. Bronte’s extensive knowledge in futures planning serves to fully compliment the Vocational Major (VM) program.

The Vocational Major will give students greater choice and flexibility to pursue their strengths and interests, and allows them to build a unique learning portfolio whilst developing skills at an industry-standard level. It has been specifically developed to support the students at Preshil and to complement the existing educational framework employed in our unique setting.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions or would like to be included in our next information session.

Thank you

Emma Borland
Vocational Major (VM) Program Coordinator
