Adolescence is a time of identity, expansion and growing independence. But standardised models—designed to rank, sort and conform—often work against that.

Preshil offers something original: a model built on trust, flexibility and independence, where young people explore a variety of educational pathways—often in combination—and shape a direction that reflects who they are. Because one size fits none.
A flexible, supported path — designed around the learner
At Preshil, secondary school is not just a lead-up to exams—it’s a time for students to expand, explore and start shaping their future with confidence.
From Year 9, our Senior Studio model allows students to personalise their learning—mixing practical and academic subjects, starting senior-level study early, or combining pathways like IB, VCE, VM and VET. Every student is guided to design a program that reflects their strengths, interests and goals.
Take one graduate: strong in the humanities, but passionate about science. Even though it wasn’t her strongest area, she chose to pursue high-level science subjects as part of her senior studies—and with support, she not only grew across disciplines but secured her first-choice uni course. That’s what we aim for: individual growth and real-world outcomes, not one-size-fits-all learning.

Personalised pathways

Years 7-8: Discovery
Students explore interests and learning preferences through project-based learning. They build self-awareness and confidence across a broad curriculum.
Years 8 into Year 9: Pathway planning
Students and families meet with staff to reflect, explore aspirations, and begin shaping a personalised secondary pathway.

Years 9–10: Senior Studio
Students enter our Senior Studio model—selecting specialised subjects, with the option to begin senior-level study early. Educators support each student to balance challenge, passion and direction.
Years 11–12: Formal pathway
Students finalise a tailored academic pathway, with options including:
- IB Diploma Programme (DP): A globally recognised academic program that nurtures critical thinking, independence and broad subject knowledge. A strong pathway for university-bound students who thrive in conceptual learning.
- Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE): A flexible and rigorous credential offering subject depth across disciplines, ideal for students looking to specialise while maintaining broad tertiary eligibility
- Vocational Major (VM): A hands-on pathway designed for students looking to develop practical skills, industry knowledge and workplace readiness—while still meeting literacy and numeracy requirements.
- VET subjects aligned with TAFE programs: Industry-aligned training delivered through Registered Training Organisations (e.g. TAFEs). These subjects complement academic learning and help students explore real-world career pathways.
Ongoing review and career planning
Throughout secondary school, students continue to meet regularly with staff to adjust their program, track progress and respond to emerging interests. No two pathways look the same—but all are shaped with intention, care and clarity.
As part of our career development program, students access work experience, professional insights, and individual guidance to help them prepare for life beyond school.
A campus designed for trust and connection
Students aren’t just attending—they belong.

The Blackhall campus is relaxed, welcoming and built on trust. There are no uniforms, no bells and no rigid rules—just a culture of mutual respect, responsibility and connection.
Learning happens in open studio-style spaces, not traditional classrooms. Students are on a first-name basis with educators and acan access shared spaces and equipment throughout the day, instead of enforcing arbitrary rules, we support students to manage their free thoughtfully—with care for themselves and others.
There’s a quiet confidence in this place. Students aren’t just attending—they belong. And they know it.
Why it works
Our graduates go on to study at top universities, pursue creative and vocational careers, or follow less conventional paths—equipped with both capability and self-knowledge.
But more than that, they leave with a strong sense of who they are—confident, independent and ready to be part of something bigger.
