Book a Tour

For nearly a century, we’ve backed young people to learn by doing, thinking and questioning—not just following the rules.

At Preshil, real learning starts with a simple belief: no one-size-fits-all learning. Each student brings their own pace, passions, needs and ways of making meaning and our job is to take that seriously.

This is education that breaks the mould. Not because “different” is the goal, but because young people deserve an education built for who they are, and who they’re becoming.

What we’re here for

We believe education should prepare young people to be thoughtful, peace-loving, active citizens—with the curiosity to understand the world and the courage to shape it. We foster tolerance, compassion and a concern for social justice, encouraging students to notice the issues of their time and respond with purpose.

What this looks like in practice

A strong philosophy needs strong structures. Our educational principles shape how we design school—while still meeting all regulatory and program requirements.

That means:

  • Skilled educators who understand child-centred, collaborative approaches—and are supported through induction and professional learning.
  • A flexible, dynamic curriculum using diverse resources and real-world experiences to support different paces, interests and strengths.
  • Restorative practices and processes that support student voice—like three-way conferences where young people lead conversations about progress and goals.

Learning spaces designed for real learning, including arts, science, technology and design, often shaped with student input.
