Welcome Back To Term 4!
Welcome back to a new term, and what an exciting one it promises to be!
I hope all our students and families have enjoyed a restful and rejuvenating break and are ready for what is, in many ways, the culmination of our learning journey together this year.
Term 4 is a special time within schools and particularly at Preshil. It is a time when the learning, growth, creativity and personal development that have unfolded throughout the year come together in meaningful ways. Across the school, we will see this expressed through exhibitions, artistic endeavours, performances, celebrations and the many traditions that mark the final stage of a school year. It is also a time of preparation for important milestones, including our senior exams, graduations, transitions and the reflection that comes through our end-of-year reports.
What makes this term so rewarding is the opportunity to recognise not simply what our students have and will continue to achieve, but how far they have stretched themselves throughout the process of learning and living. The confidence they are developing, the challenges they embrace, the relationships they continue to build and the ways in which they have stretched themselves as learners and as people.
Interestingly, and perhaps somewhat unusually for a school at this point in the year, we are also delighted to welcome a significant number of new families into our community. At the beginning of Term 4, 13 new families joined Preshil, a wonderful reflection of the continued growth and evolution of our school. To each of these families, a particularly warm welcome. We are delighted that you are now part of our community.
To all our families, welcome back. I look forward to a rich and rewarding term filled with opportunities for connection, celebration and reflection across our beautiful community.
Warm Regards,
Aaron Mackinnon

Year 7 And 8 Debating Round 1
Congratulations to Preshil’s Year 7 and 8 debating team, who celebrated their first-ever online debate victory this week!
Leon, Sasha, James and Zara presented a compelling argument for the affirmative side of the topic, “That health star ratings should be mandatory in Australia.”
The adjudicator praised the team for their ability to explore complex ideas, deliver effective rebuttals and communicate their arguments with clarity and confidence.
A special congratulations to James, who was awarded Best Speaker. A fantastic achievement for the whole team and a wonderful start to their debating journey!

Quiz Night
Brains were tested, answers debated and competition was fierce at Preshil's Quiz Night on Thursday 8 October!
More than 50 parents and staff came together for an evening of laughter, friendly rivalry and some surprisingly tricky questions.
Hosted by the wonderful Planet Janet, the night put everyone's general knowledge to the test. Did you know that the human body typically has 12 pairs of ribs? Or that Maggie Simpson's bow is blue? And who knew that the bullseye of a professional archery target is yellow, or that the Iditarod is a famous sled dog race?
With some stiff competition throughout the evening, it was a fantastic opportunity for parents and staff to connect outside the classroom and enjoy a little friendly rivalry.
A big thank you to Planet Janet and everyone who came along and made the night such a success!
