Welcome to another exciting week at Preshil.
Lincoln Square comes alive
Something shifted on Saturday evening. Walking through Lincoln Square during the Housewarming, it was another moment of celebrating what a special community we have. We are more than just a school. Our community is informed by a way of thinking and being, an approach to the world that invites courage, curiosity and connection, amongst other virtues, that help our people to be the fullest version of themselves in the world we are actively a part of.
What was beautiful about Saturday was the opportunity to come together. Having our alumni and current children and families intermixing. Young people filled the space. Parents reconnected. Alumni swapped stories. Neighbours and friends of the school made new ones. It was a real reminder of what makes Preshil extraordinary. Not just the building, but the people inside it, and what we're collectively building for the next generation.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. Your presence really made it something special.
The next chapter for Lincoln Square and our Middle School
As we prepare Lincoln Square to become our Senior Studio campus, and with our Middle School growing into its new Arlington home, we're inviting the community to be part of what comes next.
Our Capital Campaign is now officially open. Donations to the Capital Fund are tax deductible and will go directly toward facilities and resources that future Preshil students will learn and grow in. To find out more or to make a contribution, reach out to Lucy in Marketing, Community Engagement and Advancement at giving@preshil.vic.edu.au or head straight to our fundraising page below.
Warmly,
Aaron Mackinnon,
Principal

Lincoln Square Housewarming
As mentioned earlier, our Lincoln Square Housewarming was held on Saturday.
A fantastic coming together of our community to celebrate Preshil and warmly welcome its future. Thank you to all who attended.
Pound Bend Camp Reflection Afternoon Tea
The Lofties were very excited to share their camp experience at Pound Bend with their families through their special projects.
Thank you to all the parents for the support and time. The children have been contributing in various ways like researching and investigating prior to camp, being involved in different roles during camp and setting up the space, preparing tea and scones for their families on Wednesday afternoon.
Arlington Doo Dah Pay it Forward
Each term, we couple Doo Dah with an opportunity to 'Pay it Forward'.
Often we collect donations for the ASRC Food Bank, however, with winter descending, we are asking our families to reach into the wardrobe and pull out any coats and jackets that may not be needed to donate to 'Off your Back', a social enterprise providing winter coats to those in need.
A box will be placed at Arlington Reception for your donations, which we will accept up until the final day of term. Nothing makes a winter sausage in bread more heartwarming than paying it forward.
Winter Sol
As the days grow shorter, our annual Winter Solstice celebration brings warmth, light and community to our Arlington campus.
Students spend weeks creating beautiful paper lanterns before gathering for a parade that winds through the school grounds, illuminating the evening with colour and creativity. Families contribute homemade soups to share, creating a generous community feast, while twinkling lights transform the campus into a magical landscape. A bonfire becomes the heart of the celebration, drawing people together to connect, reflect and families gather in the hall for musical performances from students of all ages.
Join us for this much-loved Preshil tradition - families from K-12 are all welcome.

Arlington Art Workshop
Our Art Workshop students at Arlington have spent this semester exploring textiles by creating personal flags that tell a story about who they are.
They’ve experimented with stencilling, shibori dyeing and cyanotype printing, with screen printing, embroidery and Sashiko still to come. Each new technique builds confidence, skill and creative independence as students prepare to design their own Senior Jerseys in Term Three.
VCE VM Supporting Reconciliation Through Community Action
As part of Preshil’s commitment to National Reconciliation Week, VCE Vocational Major students recently hosted a successful Bake Sale in support of Children's Ground, an organisation led by First Nations communities that works to create lasting change for children, families and communities.
The event was entirely student-led through the VM Canteen Community Project. Students worked collaboratively to plan the fundraiser, create promotional materials, prepare and bake a range of treats, and manage sales on the day. Their hard work and dedication were rewarded with an impressive $262 raised for their chosen charity.
Beyond fundraising, the project provided students with valuable opportunities to develop skills in teamwork, communication, planning and community engagement, while contributing to an important national conversation about reconciliation. We congratulate the students on their initiative and thank the Preshil community for their generous support.
Hadestown New Show Added
Hadestown is nearly sold out in a record 6 days so we have now added a 4th show for Saturday 1 August at 2pm.
This show will sell out quickly, so if you missed out, now’s your last chance!

The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) is open for applications until 26 June 2026.
Eligible families in Victoria receive $400 per year for both primary and secondary school students.
These funds are paid directly to your child's school and are allocated to cover expenses for school camps, excursions, and sporting activities.
Parents/carers who wish to access CSEF funds for 2026 should complete the attached application form and email it to georg.robers@preshil.vic.edu.au as soon as possible.
