750 Audience Members. 33 Students. One Unforgettable Production, Hadestown
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house on our closing night of “Hadestown”.
With 4 brilliant shows, 750 audience members, 33 students, 6 months of rehearsals, 1 incredible venue, and multiple standing ovations.
Thank you to the brilliant Michelle Berner, Ana, Andrew, Aimee, Martika, Lux Creative for their professional tech, the beautiful staff of Chapel off chapel, St Catherine's School for their generous donation of our set, the two Greg’s, and Miles, Clare, Jordan and Sally who helped backstage.
Thank you to our wonderful parents and families who support their child’s journey in the Arts, and most importantly thank you to our students - we see you and we hope you got everything out of this show and more. We raise our cups to you!

Charlotte's Lighthouse Incursion
On Thursday, the Lighthouse Keepers had an exciting visitor. Charlotte, a wonderful storyteller and former Preshil parent.
Her incursion included stories told through spoken word, shadow puppets, and string puppets. Some of the tales included Anansi the Spider: A Tale from the Ashanti and The Cat That Walked by Himself. The class were captivated by her stories.
This incursion was to entertain, inspire and support their new enquiry into storytelling. Following her stories, she held a workshop about puppet making. The children had the chance to create a stick puppet with paper and cardboard or a string puppet using fabric.

Starting Term 3 in the Preshil Kindergarten Program
This term has started with children connecting with peers, educators, and nature in an unhurried and meaningful way.
We have also welcomed a new child to our program, who has felt very welcome. Children continue to feel seen and appreciated in a learning environment that is intentionally intimate, warm, and respectful.
Bush learning continues to be a space where children learn and grow with nature, explore weather changes, and enjoy togetherness through wholesome treats made on the fire. This week, we made "bread on a stick," an experience that integrated mathematics, turn-taking, and collaboration. Children used non-standard measurement to determine the length of sticks safe for threading the bread, and we also measured how long the bread took to cook on the fire.
The children gave us wonderful feedback, sharing how much they loved bread on a stick — so we'll be bringing this experience back again in the coming weeks!

Special Visitors at Arlington
For the next couple of weeks, we have some special visitors at Arlington: a family of tree skinks.
The first thing that happened wasn’t a teacher giving children a lesson. It was children arriving with questions. What do they eat? How often are they fed? Why do they need heat? How old are they? Curiosity doesn’t need much of an invitation.
We’re a pet-friendly school because we recognise the important role animals play in the lives of young people. They spark wonder, encourage care and responsibility, and turn everyday moments into authentic learning.
For nearly a century, we’ve believed that the best learning begins with genuine interest. When young people are trusted to ask questions and explore their curiosity, learning becomes personal and memorable. Sometimes all it takes is a couple of tree skinks.

Due to the popularity of our Gozlemes, we have added an additional flavour this term - Herbed Chicken. We have also added a Croissant with Ham & Cheese and Pancakes with Strawberries, Blueberries & Honey.
Our Thursday Chess Club is back, giving students the opportunity to sharpen their minds while having fun with one of the world's most strategic games.
Led by Chess Australia Pty Ltd under the guidance of International Master and FIDE-accredited coach Leonid Sandler, students will build valuable skills including critical thinking, problem-solving, concentration and strategic planning. Whether they're learning the basics or refining advanced tactics, Chess Club is a fantastic way for students to challenge themselves, grow in confidence and enjoy the excitement of the game.
