Science Week
Across the week, students have explored evolution, put their knowledge to the test with science trivia, built mouse-trap racers, taken on educators in an engineering challenge, experimented with physics, launched rockets and finished with a Science Olympiad.
There’s plenty of serious science behind all of this. But there’s also curiosity, experimentation, collaboration and the freedom to find out what happens when an idea meets the real world.
Nearly a century ago, Preshil described learning as researching, exploring, discovering and drawing conclusions from the problems that capture our interest. Science Week is a good example of what that still looks like.

Tournament of Minds
What a fantastic day, it was for our three Tournament of Minds teams!
All three teams were incredibly impressive and represented our school with such enthusiasm, creativity and confidence. It was particularly wonderful to see how well they supported, encouraged and celebrated one another, both within their teams and across the three groups. They also impressed the judges with the confidence and thoughtfulness with which they discussed their ideas and responded to questions.
A huge congratulations to all of our students for the tremendous amount of hard work, commitment and persistence they put into their challenges. They navigated plenty of hiccups along the way, problem-solved when things didn't go according to plan and kept working together right through to the end. We couldn't be prouder of them!
A very big thank you to everyone who supported our TOM teams throughout the process — to the staff, families and everyone who helped with preparation, encouragement, transport, costumes, props and all the little things that made the day possible.
And, of course, after all that hard work, the teams deserved a well-earned pizza celebration!
Well done, TOM teams — you should be incredibly proud of yourselves!
Senior Art Life Drawing
Senior Art students recently came together for a life drawing session, providing an opportunity to observe, draw and explore the human form in a supportive studio setting.
The sessions will continue for the next two weeks, with staff life drawing sessions held on Wednesdays from 3.30–4.30pm in Senior Art.

100 Days in the Lighthouse
Last week we celebrated a huge milestone for our students.
For many in the class, this was their first 100 days in their school career. We boogied, ate food, played games, and made puppets. We also had a visit from four butlers. They were remarkably similar to the Lighthouse team and two children from the Loft room.

Grow Your Mind at Arlington: Perspective
Our Grow Your Mind character strength focus for this fortnight is Perspective.
Perspective is the ability to recognise that the same situation can look, feel or make sense differently depending on our point of view. As children grow this strength, they practise listening to others, considering different viewpoints and understanding that their experience may not be the only one.
You may have noticed the duck-rabbit image on our Arlington chalkboard. What do you see first: a duck or a rabbit? It’s a simple reminder that two people can look at exactly the same thing and see something different, and both perspectives can be valid.
Through our daily Grab Five wellbeing sessions, children will be exploring this idea in playful and practical ways, considering different viewpoints and reflecting on how seeing something from another perspective can sometimes change our own thinking.

Term 3 Chess Coaching with Chess Australia
Our Thursday Chess Club is back, giving students the opportunity to sharpen their minds while having fun with one of the world's most strategic games.
Led by Chess Australia Pty Ltd under the guidance of International Master and FIDE-accredited coach Leonid Sandler, students will build valuable skills including critical thinking, problem-solving, concentration and strategic planning. Whether they're learning the basics or refining advanced tactics, Chess Club is a fantastic way for students to challenge themselves, grow in confidence and enjoy the excitement of the game.
