Year 9/10 Psychology Debate
Year 9/10 Psychology students recently explored Weber’s theories of “Social Action and Power” and Bronfenbrenner’s “Ecological Systems Theory” through a lively debate on the provocative statement: “Cults are not outside society; they are society intensified.”

Drawing on forensic psychology perspectives and real-world examples, students examined how these theories operate within groups and across society.

Preshils’ senior debating mentors joined as adjudicators, praising the students’ critical thinking, confidence, and teamwork. The debate showcased their ability to question social norms, construct persuasive arguments, and engage thoughtfully with complex ideas. This was a true celebration of inquiry-based learning in action.

Kindergarten Explore The Wurundjeri season Buarth Gurru, The Grass Flowering Season
“This is the wind and the snake that bites the sun.”

This term, our Kindergarten children have been continuing their journey with the Wurundjeri season Buarth Gurru, the Grass Flowering Season, as part of our year-long Growing with the Wurundjeri Seasons project.

Through sensory observation, conversation, and artmaking, they’re exploring the deep connection between land and people. In the Pines, they’ve been invited to slow down, observe, and draw what they notice: “the tree roots and the stone river,” “the big tree with its branches and leaves,” and “the wind and the snake that bites the sun.”

In the studio, they’ve been experimenting with black ink, natural materials and found objects to explore how nature shifts over time, and how we might respond. One piece, started weeks ago, has slowly transformed as children added layers using tree branches, leaves, and even kitchen utensils.

These works are not just beautiful, they’re windows into how children make sense of the world, and how they find their place in it.

We look forward to sharing this learning with families at our Summer Sol event, where the full arc of the project will be celebrated through the children’s words, artworks, and reflections.
